Ingredients
– 80/20 ground beef
– Yellow onion (salted for 15min and patted dry)
– Iceberg lettuce
– American Cheese
– Franz Buns (toasted)
– Burger sauce (mayo/ketchup/yellow mustard/pickle relish/Worcestershire)
This is my new way to make smash burgers. So much flavor! Basically put a pile of onions on top of each meat ball before smashing, and make sure to put the fallen ones on top of the patties right before the flip. Takes a few extra minutes over regular smash burgers but so worth it!

Not even close to being a smash burger.
I really don’t get it – how are so many people confused by the concept?
OP, your burger looks fine, probably tasted great, but that is not a smash burger. Your patties are half as thick as they are wide.

Where’s the Hulk smash?
I’m sorry, because I’m sure they tasted good. But those aren’t Oklahoma style smash burgers. You can’t smash 3 burgers in a skillet that size. And the onions seem to be thicker and scattered around. You need thinner onions, smashed into the patties, and a flat top where you can smash the burger almost paper thin. Intention of something doesn’t make it what you want it to be. You need the right tools and techniques. Besides that, they look pretty good for a regular burger with onions.
